Matt Jones serves as the senior assistant golf superintendent for Old Chatham Golf Club. In this role, he is responsible for daily agronomic activities for the course. This includes managing 25 employees involved in golf course preparation, providing supervision on everything from mowing and administering pesticides and fertilizers to irrigation, handling troubleshooting and repairs.
Jones, an avid golfer since he was 8 years old, earned a degree in turf science from The Ohio State University in Columbus. He is a licensed and certified pesticide applicator and member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA).
Prior to joining Old Chatham in 2012, Jones spent two years at the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill. A native of Chillicothe, Ohio, he now lives in Hillsborough, N.C., with his wife, Jaimie.
